I was a motorbike courier for 8 years, a controller for 2 years and rode for Virgin Limobike as a motorcycle chauffeur for 5 years. I did a bit of racing over that time (as did most of my pals) and in all that time I've never known a motorcyclist who I've known killed.

A pal of mine is a great racer and was on joint points with another rider (who I didn't know) at the last Thundersport round at Brands. First right down Paddock Hill they were vying for the lead and that's the last thing he remembered before waking up in hospital charged with Manslaughter. The other bloke had died in the accident and his family wanted my pal charged with murder.

I didn't know this but if someone dies in a racing incident you are automatically charged with Manslaughter. It looked a bit hairy for a while but it turned out ITV4 were at the meeting and recorded the whole accident and my pal was blameless.

It's actually more dangerous if you ride a motorcycle recreationally as you tend to ride faster and you're most likely to die aged between 40-55. Amazing to think you're more likely to die in middle-age in a motorbike accident than a teenager.

Scaffolders all seem to be nut jobs.should think a fair number of them peg out. Having had some tree surgeons do stuff for me recently that also seems to fall into the fuck that category.

As I said in my opening post, I put trawler men first, it's a very dangerous job

bruuuno 11:18 Sun Sep 7
Re: What's the most dangerous job in the world?
I don't see the fact that they hand line 500v as being that dangerous, seeing as they are not earthed. I would think the climbing/height thing is where the dangerous.

But yea as mashed says, being on a trawler seem more dangerous as bit only is there the danger of simply being at sea, you're also handling heavy machinery on awful conditions with little sleep.
